Some notable P.N.M. detractors are going about the place predicting as it were the demise of the P.N.M. However, may I remind those who may wish to see this unlikely event take place that the cliche Long live the P.N.M. and it Shall Prevail suggests exactly what it says, the party will prevail.The P.N.M stands out among all political parties locally and regionally because of its all inclusive operating philosophy of inter racial solidarity as enunciated by its founding father the late Dr. Eric Eustace Williams in the 1956 Peoples Charter Nor are we an ordinary party in the usually narrow accepted sense of the word, we are rather a rally, a convention of all and for all. A mobilsation of all the forces in the national community,cutting across race and religion, class and colour, with emphasis on united action by all the people in a common cause. This operating philosophy has enabled the party to withstand the test of time thus emerging victoriously on two memorable occasions from opposition to government under the astute leadership of former political leader the Hon. Patrick Manning and is now poised to be victorious again in the 2015 general election under the capable watch of its new political leader the Hon. Dr. Keith Rowley. Additionally, the P.N.M. sustenance is owed a great deal to its unique party structure as enshrined in its constitution. First and foremost the structure promotes peoples participation and consensus building in every sense of the word. For example, the party group functions primarily for the development and implementation of programmes for ensuring the credibility, acceptability and the dynamic presence of the Peoples National Movement in the local community. The constituency group is responsible for the formation and implementation of programmes to give life to party policies at the level of the regional community, for example, a collection of a number of local communities consisting of polling divisions in a given geographical area.The general council is responsible for the translation of strategies and policies into operational programmes - focus is on the national community, and the annual convention where general strategy and policy formulation is evaluated. Furthermore, there is the womens league and the youth league which function to work with special interest groups, women and young people. All of these features have contributed to the stability and progress of the Peoples National Movement which will be celebrating its 59th. anniversary since its inception on January, 24, 2015, in just about one week time. Today, the P.N.M. remains the only stable, single entity political organization in Trinidad and Tobago, at the moment which is capable of providing good and transparent governance. The party remains committed to building communities and fostering development, as well as securing democracy, human rights and civil liberties for all our citizens. Therefore, we need to cherish the P.N.M. and support this stable and well organized political institution in its ongoing efforts to provide Trinidad and Tobago with good governance once again. The victory the P.N.M. seeks in 2015, is not merely a victory for the party, but rather a victory for the people.
