As an ex-appointed official and as a Mayoral candidate, the point is this...increasing rates of poverty and the worst achievement gap in America...all lead to increasing crime. There is so much that goes on (like this video), that never gets reported in the crime stats. If City Hall only continues to invest downtown and ignore our neighborhoods, it will only get worse. The hundreds of millions (close to a billion actually) in money that is/will be spent in the Vikings Stadium, Target Center, Downtown East, and the Nicollet Mall renovation, do nothing to address our greatest areas of need. Over time (and Ive been here for 27 years), this is what you get.
