Some of you have asked where we got our name from and how it relates to Multiple Sclerosis - here is how the two connect: Each nerve cell in the body is coated with a layer of fats and protein called MYELIN. The myelin protects the nerve cell and helps it to conduct electrical signals faster. In MS, the immune system mistakenly attacks the myelin around nerve cells, causing demyelination. These nerves with damaged myelin do not function as efficiently, causing the symptoms of MS. Keep sMYELIN!
