Some of you may have noticed that Ive been posting more and more Mediaite stuff lately, and not a lot of food stuff. Some of you are probably wondering, Yo, girl, what up with that? Well, heres whats up: Starting today, Im working full-time for Mediaite, where Ill be covering breaking news, the media, domestic/international politics, and a rogues gallery of egomaniacs, despots, murderers, viral superstars, and general jackasses. Ill continue food writing occasionally, but Ill miss The Braiser very much -- it got me to New York, it it introduced me to chefs and writers Ive long admired from afar, and it ultimately made me a better writer. Oh, and I got to eat the most amazing food in the world on a regular basis. (A James Beard nomination doesnt hurt either.) In the past two years, Ive grown to admire and respect chefs: they sometimes might have egos and tantrums, they may live dramatic lives, but their life purpose is to nourish people and make them happy, no matter where they come from or who theyre feeding. Its time for me to be a gadfly to people who deserve it.
