Some of you might be wondering why I wasnt on facebook for a bit. Im gonna share this to encourage a fellow survivor. Some of you might know that I have Bipolar Disorder. In 2012-2013, I had experienced my most severe episodes of mania and depression. For more details on bipolar disorder, click this link from Mood Disorders. mooddisorders.ca/faq/bipolar-disorder When I first accepted I was Bipolar, I was in the mania stage. While in the mania stage, though super happy and very confident, I was impulsive, irritable, and did some things I regretted. When you are manic, you are not fully aware of the things you are doing. Though this was an unpredictable stage, I did not fully grasp the fulness of the disorder. I did not understand the depression side. So, since July, when I returned from the hospital, I fell into a deep depression. I was sad, preoccupied with my failures and mistakes, had a loss of self-esteem, was isolating myself, oversleeping and the worst part were the suicidal thoughts and attempts. It was a very difficult season for me. While in the depression, I did not have the desire to engage with anyone including Facebook. But thank God, with some assistance, I am climbing out of my depression and slowly moving forward and upward. Truly God is good. I say all this to say that mental illness is real. Mental illness is real in the church too. Its not necessarily an easy thing to deal with. However, with Christ and the rights supports (doctors, counsellors, support groups, family, friends, church family, etc), you can make it. Though doctors say I may be Bipolar for life, I am standing on the word of God and believing Jesus for my complete healing. For now, I will take the medication, but the last time I checked, Jesus has healed and can heal again.
