Some of you might find this very strange....but as a Figure Competitor I have never seriously incorporated dead lifts into my training. Ive dabbled in a little light weight dead liftish movements, but never taken my deadlifting seriously. As a gym newbie, I tried deadlifting (obviously with very bad form) and strained my back. Since then, deadlifts were not for me....until today! Today I have officially fallen in love with DEADLIFTS!! I feel strong, powerful and in control and I KNOW they are going to give me some serious glute/ham gains. I am happy...onward and upward...deadlifting :) The secret lies in your form. If you are new to deadlifts or just unsure, stay with using the bar only, until the movement becomes almost automatic, and only then start adding weight. Yay me!
