Some of you will have heard a vile, fascist and racist group called Britain First came to Bradford yesterday invading mosques. I immediately spoke to the police and have since had numerous conversations with District Commander for Bradford and the Council for Mosques on this issue. Mosques and worshippers have a right to be protected and feel safe and the District Commander has given assurances that the police are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and an investigation is ongoing. I understand Council for Mosques is liaising with all the mosques as well. I have further meetings with both the police and Council for Mosques tomorrow. This group only want to create racial tension and division in the community. We as citizens of Bradford have united in the past to reject the EDL and we must do the same now.
