Some people say that the Muslim obligatory prayers are too - TopicsExpress

Some people say that the Muslim obligatory prayers are too mechanical and routine and that it would be better to pray when the soul desires God. However, that would mean that if ones soul did not desire God today, we would not pray today at all. Likewise, if the soul did not desire God this week, month or year, we simply just would not pray. Salaah (Muslim formal prayers) are performed five times a day in order to maintain a direct and regular link between the worshiper and Allah. Most human beings turn to God during times of calamity and tragedy, motivated by desperation rather than spiritual consciousness. Real worship and prayer should be a product of a conscious awareness of God in our lives. Regular worship does that.
