Some perspective about me... The man who kept getting up... After the military, after the wars, after the death of my first wife, after all the trials and tribulations and all the self - inflicted wounds and the torture that I put myself through; it finally hit me that I was a survivor. It finally dawned on me that I could take all that pain and turn it into something useful by finding a way to serve others and honor my dead comrades and show some appreciation for my life. I realized that I could also honor my wifes death by exhibiting and exuding the same humility and love that she reflected. If I could only re- examine, re- invent and re-frame what I was seeing and put it into a God perspective, God, who only sees the perfection in me, in us... And after many years, many scrapes, falls and failures, I finally was able to see myself as not the man who kept falling down; but as the man who kept getting up. Tom ~
