Some progress in the media: for once this report did not just transcribe the assertions made by US military spokesmen but checked independently with a Syrian human rights organization. Guess what-- the stories about whether or not civilians were killed conflict and the US is spinning and trying to make the human rights report on the ground go away. This is what journalism is supposed to do: compel accountability for actions and claims especially by those in power inflicting life or death policies. Please contact the Guardian to say you appreciate this double sourcing...now if only the press had been that rigorous in checking state department and military assertions in the drumbeat to war...rather than attacking those (like us here) who insisted that govt assertions be second sourced. theguardian/world/2014/oct/18/us-air-strikes-isis-kobani
