Some rando sang this at karaoke a few months ago, and its really stuck with me. I was/am a big Billy Joel guy. I used to swing in a backyard hammock reading Dr. Who novelizations with a large cassette player in my lap. Id kick against a tree and swing along to Billy Joels greatest hits and read about time travel and how superior British people are to lizard people. But... this one I didnt really know. I never had Turnstiles on cassette. Its a post-apocalyptic story about the world flooding? And the mafia taking over Mexico? Its sort of amazing, but also sort of bad. It really feels like strong enough material to make a great cover out of, and when I looked it up, I found that no lesser luminary than the entity known as Richard Marx had once done so.
