Some theories advocate stimulation for babies -- showing them black and white pictures to promote visual alertness, shaking rattles in their faces to elicit a response, or enrolling them in baby gym classes to exercise their bodies. This is done with the idea of stimulating their intelligence or physical development, which will evolve on its own. I believe that a baby who has just come out of the womb needs a transition time with peace and quiet, devoid or artificial stimulation. Life itself will provide her with the natural stimulation she needs to develop. You may wonder, will my baby develop as quickly or as well as other babies without stimulating her? My answer is yes.
