Some things to consider if you are running for Council. From my - TopicsExpress

Some things to consider if you are running for Council. From my experience there are three types of people who run for Council. The first is the person who runs for Power and Money, the second type is the person out for Revenge and Retaliation, and the third type is the person who wants to deal with all the Poverty issues immediately. Most people are unaware of these 3 motives of why people run and get fooled into voting someone into a leadership position and then wonder why nothing has changed. The Power candidate wants to create change by control and manipulation. This type of leader values money and the spot light more than people. You can tell by their personalities of Pride, Self-Interest, and Selfishness. The words they use are Patronizing, Superiority, and Condescending. The Revenge candidate wants to create change by retaliation and retribution. This type of leader values their own judgments and getting even more than people. You can tell by their personality of Condemnation, Blame, and Vengeance. The words they use are Anger, Shame, and Criticism. The Poverty Candidate wants to create change by equality and service. This type of leader values the needs and services of the people. They have personalities of Sacrifice, Service, and Compassion. The words they use are Solution orientated, Future Generations, and Wellbeing of people. I think the people have to be aware of the motives of candidates who are running and what they are really about because after we get fooled then we are stuck with Leaders who are not doing what they said would do. They close their doors and start hiding from people and believe they are too important. Their agenda is what’s best for them not for everyone. Some of these Candidates are expert manipulators and will tell you exactly what you want to hear. They know what’s important to you or know what buttons to push. We need to be aware of these campaign promises that never evolve. An example is, say you’re interested in Education a Candidate will say when I get in there I am going to make sure the funding is put in place or I need you to come back and help your people. The other one is those no good guys they need to put money in place you shouldn’t have to struggle. After the election is over and you go ask about it, they brush you off by saying I am working on it. We can no longer elect leaders based on popularity contests or who has the best platform meal. A candidate who is paying for your vote has no respect for you. If you are serious about running and making fundamental change on Fort Berthold I encourage you to do some soul searching. Ask yourself what your real motives are and how committed are you to doing the right thing? If you are a voter how committed are you to voting for real change?
