Some thoughts about equality and inequality: one of the sign of decadent age is lack of gratitude to ones parent, spouses, friends, sangha members, teachers, and especially to ones spiritual ideals, the three jewes: Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. The reason perhaps being brainwashed heavily by the spell of our modern day complacent notion of egalitarianism to view each and everyone as squarely equal. whereas the truth is everyone is not equal rather everyone is individually unique or equally unequal. This snobish complacent notion of egalitarian society robs us from having faith or trust towards certain giant historical personage who embody lofty spiritual ideals and empathy towards misfortune fellow being and solidarity with the rest of humanity. The reason being because we are not clearly able to see and acknowledge the fact of the heirachy of consciousness in existence. Certain individuals consciousness has evolved much higher, something for us to look up-to and draw inspiration from. whereas certain other individuals consciousness is less evolved or even devolved hence consequently more bewilderment and misery, for which we can relate by responding with empathy and compassion. Everything and everyone shouldnt be mumble and jumble up into creating equality, which is practically impossible. How are we going to iron all the diversity and plurality into equality? It is timely that we learn to accept, appreciate and respect the hard fact of inequality, individuality, diversity, pluralism and above all the reality of the uniqueness of everyone. Reflect upon creating balance between unity and diversity. There can be unity in the diversity and diversity in the unity. For buddhist monism and pluralism does not need to be contradictory, they can be complementary.
