Some time back we received a call from a good Samaritan about a homeless woman living in the woods. We were informed, she was sleeping in a tent with the only thing she had left, her dog! We were asked to step in and consider taking in her dog, because the woman was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and was scheduled to go into the hospital for a hysterectomy. But with no one to care for her dog, she was going to postpone her surgery. She had already lost her job and her home and could not think of losing her best friend. We spoke to her for a long time, saw where she was living, and talked some more...she eventually agreed to let Major come with us. We promised we would take great care of him and find him a wonderful family.
