Someone asked my why I should feel bad about Brazil...I am not even a football fan! True. My addiction to football has been since past few days...n it will be over after the finals. But past few days I have been almost sitting in that stadium...with thousands chanting n cheering loud. It makes my heart race n I almost turned a kid from my school days when football meant something to me. And last night I saw on TV many kids crying...and it upset me. It was not Brazil that lost. It was football that lost. It wasnt the loss of a game that mattered, but the loss of dignity. If they had gone down fighting it wouldnt have mattered. With Neymar n Thiago Silva not playing...it was difficult anyways...but the sheer humiliation of a one sided match. Millions of those eyes were moist cos it was pride that got beaten. I like heroes. I like the fact that they inspire generations and generations. I like the fact that stories are woven around them n they give wings to many young dreamers. And the camera-men covering the crowd shots managed to show just that- how women n kids let theirs tears lose...those hero- worshipers were stripped naked n vulnerable. I felt bad because in a country that gave so much to world football....football almost just died. pravin talan
