Someone leaked Asha Javeeds personal pictures, someone else used it in a demeaning video montage meant to shame her, possibly to silence or intimidate her. MATT has jumped into the fray and have offered itself and its increasingly meaningless voice as a support of the Express tired attempt at self righteousness, and add to the melee a ratings whore move by CNC3, who decides to take advantage of the opportunity and run it as a story, much to the umbrage of Lasana Liburd, who has begun his own witch hunt for the perpetrators, and is so overselling his view that he thinks that she is wearing swimwear rather than underwear in the pictures it is causing many to wonder why he protests that one point that much? Anywhoo... Whoever used the pictures this way, especially the pictures of her young child was a little sleazy, whoever leaked it was even sleazier, and CNC3, well, if anybody should have known better it was you. Whoever set out on this journey has made an overnight celebrity out of Asha, and perhaps she may yet turn this around to her benefit. Anyone thinking Ambassador Javeed? It could happen. What cannot get lost in all of this is the medias political stance and MATTs role as defender in chief everytime the media is pushed back. With no code of ethics and no guidelines, the race games and political financier money is making a mess of the integrity of our fourth estate. The lack of anything like public outrage here is instructive and should be even more so to media owners, because they are losing ground and fast. Social media has the content that traditional media can only hint at, even as the eye gouging and hair pulling begins in ernest. Me? Im not surprised. Are you? This is Trinidad & Tobago, where yesterday is yesterday and today is today. But not tonight, i will tell you more tomorrow, in a land where the people and the media never remember, so tomorrow never comes...
