Sometime, in the not so distant past, our ancestors learned to make tamales using teosinte. It has a kernel like corn but its much smaller. Somewhere along the timeline, they began using corn meal instead because it yielded more meal/food per plant than teosinte. The problem is that corn is a hybrid plant, therefore a starch, therefore an acid. Our bodies are alkaline and require a diet of alkaline foods. Eating tamales made with corn meal throws the natural balance were intended to have, off. Allot of other foods we eat do this as well. I would love to bring teosinte back to our people.
