Sometimes I have to turn my heart and mind toward our Heavenly Father and ask, “Is this pit in my stomach about today or is it about what already happened in the past or about what I’m afraid might happen in the future?” Taking a moment to ask God for clarity usually leads to an unruffled awareness about what’s really going on. It’s taken me decades to get this, but I’m finally learning that extremely intense emotions – like panic or fury – are often rooted in the past or flung toward the unknowable future. ~From Overextended
