Sometimes every note sounds off relative to the others though it - TopicsExpress

Sometimes every note sounds off relative to the others though it is sound. If I go too far down the rabbit hole I sometimes agree that some tones should lay on top of each other though common sense and the ear western or not would find it unsound. There is a balance between music being music and music being music music. Sometimes common chords or tempered tuned instruments just sound dissonant to me because of the timbre. The imperfections are the thing. Timbre is like your face or your fingerprints. Colors, textures, light or darkness, level. Music. I got a brake job recently and I had the song You Lust by Flaming Lips on in my truck and the mechanic mentioned to me that he had mentioned it to the other dude in the office that he was not sure if that was music. I had mentioned that I am an audio dude and that the squeaking of my brakes was starting to implode me little by little and my musical choices starting to make sense to him. It was still music though I didnt respond to his music comment. Things can get artsy fartsy. I dont like that works not common or works abstract are automediatly labeled pretentious or self indulgent by many music listeners. That is not fair. Sometimes music that is sound is not sound at all, but a barely reined animal. I cant wait to finish this next album so you all can hear the grand experiment that is happening. It is the largest puzzle that I have ever tried to complete and moving along steadily if not ahead of schedule.
