Sometimes the circumstances of all our lives are so difficult, Lord! Often misfortunes seem to come all at once. Other times ongoing, wear-me-down situations or relationships seem to follow us day in and day out. Then there are the crushing tragedies that strike us in our tracks and devastate us. A life of faith is not defined by these things--but it is not exempt, either. Suffering is as real for the faithful as for anyone else. However, we have an "eternal comfort and good hope" that lifts us up. In that comfort and hope, God carries us, heals us and the balm of his tender mercies, and strengthens us to carry on in what is good...
