Sometimes the moments that change your life seem so insignificant. You don’t realize that an encounter you have will set your life on a new trajectory. I never knew when I saw these two young men step into our Taekwondo classroom, what a profound impact they would have on the lives of my children and myself. When they walked in they looked like any other young men, casually dressed, pants so baggy, the mom in me wanted to tell them to wear a belt. These were not ordinary young men, not by any means. The Pettis Brothers instantly impressed me by their passion, dedication, discipline and respect. They were supposed to be our interim instructors, but after the first session, we were rallying behind them. These were the instructors we wanted mentoring our children. The more I got to know them, my respect for them grew. They had faced horrific times, times that can destroy your souls, but not these three. Sometimes what is forged in fire becomes the strongest and most magnificent. These young men are truly magnificent, their faith, love for their family, passion, drive and care for their students truly has been inspiring. When I had the privilege of meeting their amazing mother and grandmother, I knew where this came from. The Pettis Brothers have mentored my children and truly have been there for us in our darkest times. I am very proud of them for the Titles and all the honors they have won, they are well deserved, but that is not what it’s all about. A true champion and hero is judged not by those things but by what impact you have on those around you, by how your life inspires others, by those you help and by following the path God has set for you. Reynaldo, Anthony and Sergio Pettis are truly champions and they will always be our heroes. Thank you, we are blessed to know you. Reynaldo Sergio Anthony Pettis
