Sometimes those who argue against Christian pacifism say, It is fine if you want to risk your own life by remaining nonviolent in the face of threats. But when other people are at risk, it is immoral to refuse to use deadly force to help them. We have no right to ask other people to die for our convictions. And yet, Jesus not only got himself killed but he got his disciples killed for his convictions, too. He knew what we frequently forget: faithfulness is not found in managing the uncontrollable and often violent wildness of existence but in walking in the way of radical love, trusting that the ultimate consequence is in the hands of God who will make all things work together for good.
