Sometimes we have to do what it takes to make the necessary - TopicsExpress

Sometimes we have to do what it takes to make the necessary changes to our physique in the offseason. And sometimes, it requires being a bit uncomfortable. Being able to address the point of being mentally uncomfortable and physically uncomfortable is an important factor. Mentally, yes, it is a game. Physically though, if you feel bloated, like your digestion is slow, you feel lethargic... These are things that are important to address in terms of daily intake, fibre content, food choices, meal frequency etc. Mentally, it is important to separately tackle your insecurities with your offseason body. The mental insecurities are the voices in your head fighting you. Fighting you saying you look fat ... Fighting you to turn down social gatherings... For us Canadians being Thanksgiving. If you are working hard in the gym and giving your diet your full attention 90% of the time, being in a surplus of calories during your offseason time will not be a huge detriment to your progress. If you let it dictate how you will view yourself and let it promote a fall off the wagon attitude moving forward, then you need to step back and look at the big picture. Yesterday, for example, I could have starved myself all day to fit my macros and enjoy my thanksgiving dinner a bit. Well, instead of worrying about it, I had all of the treats, The potatoes, the turkey, the pie until I was full. Although yes, I realized it would entail making a solid effort in the gym to maximize the use of all of that extra food, I leave Thanksgiving behind me knowing I let myself enjoy a holiday, because I was NOT 10 weeks out from a show, I was not 20 weeks out. I was not any weeks out. I was simply a human with my family. A human who loves to train and loves to be diligent 90% of the time on my offseason plan. Dont forget, competing does not DEFINE you. Dieting does not DEFINE you.
