Sometimes were lucky enough to see miracles at work. I have been blessed to be able to see first hand the magic that can come during the holidays. Chet Buchanan and the folks at XS Las Vegas and Tryst have been creating a growing miracle for hundreds of kids in Nevada. Each year during the holidays, Chet Buchanan and the Morning Zoo host their annual holiday Toy Drive with “Help of Southern Nevada” (Helpsonv.org). The program is in it’s 16th year and has raised millions of dollars worth of toys for underprivileged children in Southern Nevada. About the 98.5 KLUC Toy drive: “Toy Drive would not be Toy Drive without “Tryst & XS Day.” The nightclubs at the Wynn and Encore Hotel Casino Resorts respectively, have held the single entity Toy Drive donation record for years. In our 16th year they did not disappoint.” Headed by John Wood the staff collects cash throughout the year before going on a massive shopping spree for less fortunate children all over Southern Nevada. This year they contributed $195,468. That filled 12 50-foot Pepsi Trucks with toys. In addition, the nightclubs set a new single entity bike donation of 567 bikes and, as if that wasn’t enough, added nearly $15,000 to the Nevada State Bank cash and gift card tally. The staff of XS and Tryst donate money all year long towards the toy drive. On XS and Tryst day, the staff descend on Walmart and personally buy out all the toys, put them on trucks and deliver them to the drop off point at the NV Energy building on West Sahara. For many of the Staff at XS and Tryst nightclubs, the toy drive is the highlight of their year and and extraordinary amount of work and planning go into the finale. This year they needed 12 semi-trailers as the amount of toys donated was so overwhelming. John Wood, XS Las Vegas and Tryst senior executive director of VIP services said: “We do it for the kids, that’s what drives us and motivates us every year.” Special Thanks to all the staff members of XS and Tryst Nightclubs.
