Sometimes when I am lamenting my lack of achievements in life, someone takes issue with my lament by saying, But you wrote a book! (Actually I committed this sin more than once.) Truth is, amigos, any literate person can write a book. All it takes to do so is sitting down and writing until one has enough material to make up a book. It seems that many millions of people have had such persistence, so theres really not much to brag about if all one has accomplished is to have written a book, or even a dozen of them. Writing a truly good book, however, is another story. Not many such books have ever been written. Nearly all of the books ever written are wretched or worse.
