Sometimes when I listen to survivor stories and people ask them: Would you go through it all again. Most of us are puzzled: You went through hell and back, you grew from the experience but who would willingly subject themselves to hell once again? Finding a tumor in your body is one of the most physically and emotionally terrifying things to face in our day and age and yet that part of our journey has shaped us in so many ways. It does not make any survivor a coward to say that I wouldnt do it all over again, no matter how many lessons that chapter of your life has taught you. Living in quasi constant terror that every possible reccuring pre-diagnosis symptom might be another one is our daily reality and I wouldnt wish that on anyone, even less twice. The thing about being a survivor is that you are never done fighting the fear that creeps over whenever you have a physical reminder that you are mortal. You are never done surviving. My reward is that Im alive.
