Sometimes when I talk to someone who tells me about their research in pharmacy, physics, medicine,or emergency communication, I feel like theyre doing the most important thing in the world. Of course, Im equally impressed and humbled when I see people put together buildings or bridges, defend cases, or maintain planes, trains, or automobiles. Maybe focusing on individual contributions is just zooming in. When you zoom out, though, you begin to realize how incredibly dependent each of us is on the other . . .
