Somewhat Sad Story to Share that I swear I wont give up on. Its a story about the toll age itself can have on any one of our family members and I hope you will share this. I travel all over the country and see and meet all kinds of people. Some good, some bad but always interesting. This past week I traveled from Atlanta to San Jose California to a Hotel (San Jose Airport Hotel) which Im in the process of converting to a Starwood Four Points property. After getting my room key I proceeded to my floor where I encountered an older lady with two large blue suitcases coming out of her room. Nothing noteworthy other then a passing thought that the bags were large for her but before I could think of offering to help, she went back into her room leaving the bags on my side of her closed door. I proceeded to find my room and unpack. Later that night, now nearly 7 hours from when I had first seen her I noticed those 2 large suitcases sitting in the lobby and tucked away on a nearby couch sat this same elderly lady who Im guessing about 75. Again nothing majorly noteworthy but the 2 large suit cases and now Im thinking boy she has been waiting along time. The next night...I again spot her sitting in the lobby with the same 2 suitcases and again shes there far past my bedtime. Killing me with her visual story, I inquire with the hotel staff as to who in the world could stand up their grandmother like that. They proceed to explain to me this story of what I feel to be absolute travesty of the mind and the affects of age. At $169.00 per night for , she has been doing the same thing every single day and night. As she believes Dick Van Dyke is coming to pick her up in his limo and when he doesnt show, she insists on taking a cab to the airport where she waits for him. By 4 am she gives up waiting, returns to her room only to prepare for the next day. If this is sad to you and all you want her to meet Dick Van Dyke please share. I would love to see that for sure.
