Though, the pedestal and glorification rooted in the effects of social hierarchy formed within a community may also be to blame along with being socialized under such macro level systemic oppressions. So called revolutionaries using their social capital to excuse their own micro aggressions/physical or emotional abuse. The perpetrators are the root of blame for this oppression, yes, but often the apologists for the abuser will stem the behavior. This exercise in power relations has created a culture of apologism forming a protective social chasm around the reputation of the more experienced or diligent working resourceful organizer/activist. This is what we need to question and mitigate if we want our communities to be safe[r] and focus on the rehabilitation of the survivor not the perpetuators of the abuse.
