Sooo saddened today. I just heard that Bellas nephew Jackson, (Bellas twin sister izzys pup), whi had been missing for about a week or so; was found deceased, drowned in a pond. I dont know the details, but the pond was partially frozen, so he probably went into the water & couldnt get back out, due to the ice all around the open water. PLEASE keep an EYE on your doggies! Especially if u do live out in the country/woods, etc and dont leash or contain your dogs! They are dogs!! They get distracted, they run after that distraction, and before you AND they, know it, they are GONE, LOST!! And THAT is dangerous and can quickly end in tragedy. Like little one-year-old Jackson. It TRULY only takes a second & they are gone!! If you couldnt tell, i am a HUGE believer in ALWAYS leashing or containing our dogs. Either by fencing, invisible fencing, or even strict border training. But my dogs are NEVER out of my sight, and even so, my Bella has bolted TWICE (she is 2 years old), and it was as scary & upsetting as if she were my child! Her leash had gotten tangled & i unhooked her from it & had her by the collar, while i untangled the leash, and she twisted free of my grip & OFF she went. I only got her to come right back because i got her favorite toy & squeeked it. LOL!! She heard it & came running up the driveway & into the house!! Haha. Fortunately, she was right nearby & didnt even leave our property this second time. (however, the first time she bolted was with our former roommates Husky, and they were gone quite awhile and the husky came back COVERED in manure!! Our roomate didnt have control of them before letting them out, and off they went) I live up a long driveway in the woods, BUT there is a main road at the end of that driveway & people SPEED down it!! ANND Route One is only 1/2 mile from our driveway too! My husband passed away VERRY suddenly & unexpectedly in February, and i can tell you that if i didnt have my Bella, i probably NEVER would have made it thru this!! So PLEASE watch your precious companions, so that these type tragedies are much less likely to occur. My heart is BREAKING for Jacksons mommy, her pain must be almost unbearable right now, and my heart truly goes out to her.
