Sorry for the delay friends! Weve had a long afternoon....napping! Hey, you can hardly blame us! Soon we will never be sleeping again! Hehe! Anyway, Our appointment went really well! Great specialist, confident in what he knows and does, and gets straight to the point! One of the things that wasnt known with Chelseas condition is whether it was indeed caused by pregnancy, or indicative of an underlying platelet condition she already had which has only now presented it itself! There was no way to know, the OB from the other day said, until the pregnancy was finished and they could then check her bloods as a non-pregnant woman! WELL, there WAS a way to tell whats been going on and the hematologist was on the case! He rang pathology and got blood test results of CHelseas going back to 2003 and low and behold, Chelseas platelets WERE normal for all other blood test records! Thus, any underlying causes, auto immune diseases etc have been ruled out and this IS indeed simply a gestational issue! Such good news! In knowing that, things have changed somewhat from the other plan! THe Hematologist is simply going to order that CHelsea be given platelets on the day of delivery! He almost guarantees (99% certain) they will be over 100, that an epidural CAN happen and the bleeding risk lowered! The platelet transfusion he said was the way to go, as opposed to the Intravenous immunoglobulin which apparently doesnt always work, and comes with side effects! So, fix low platelets with a bag of platelets? Sounds like the right answer to me! One thing the hematologist is going to do is get Chels in to the hospital next Tuesday and give her some then to just make sure she takes them well and that the levels do infact rise! After giving the platelets the levels only boost for a couple of days or so, thus why more will need to be given when she goes into labor! Tuesday is rather a test run! So there you have it friends, yet ANOTHER plan of action but one that seems simple and effective! For now we continue to wait! We hope now that our little lady holds off until they can test that the platelet transfusion will in fact work on the day of delivery! So, anytime AFTER tuesday she is MORE than welcome to arrive!! Hehe! My mum bumped into an old friend the other day and was telling this friend about Chels and me and the baby! She asked when we were due and upon mum telling her she proclaimed with absolute certainty Thats when shes coming! December 28...and then she casually moved on with the conversation! Now this friend is known to have somewhat of a gift when it comes to knowing things and some level of psychic receptiveness so we shall indeed see..... All I know is this-CHels and I made a baby 9 months ago....and she IS coming! Any day, any moment! We are about to have a daughter! How does one grasp that? By running around randomly squealing thats how! LOL! I just cant believe this! It feels like a dream! The most magical dream! Not long friends! Not long at all.....
