Soups On 2014 made history with record turnout. The Valley - TopicsExpress

Soups On 2014 made history with record turnout. The Valley Catholic Athletic Center was filled with guests who enjoyed 22 amazing soups. Media judges Byron Beck, Kjerstin Gabrielson, Jenny Hansson, Christina Lent, Cathy Marshall and Rhonda Shelby gave the first Soups On celebrity judges award. Honorable mention went to the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon for their delicious cream of asparagus soup. The celebrity judges top choice: Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescues Fire Station Corn Chowder. Event guests voted for the coveted gold, silver and bronze ladle awards. Bronze went to Reedville Catering for their smoked chicken corn chowder. Silver went to TV Fire & Rescue. And, in a repeat from 2013, the gold ladle award went to Thai Bloom for their Kao Soi Noodles. Of course, the real winner was the Oregon Food Bank. We thank all of the vendors, supporters and guests including Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle and Oregon Food Bank CEO Susannah Morgan. All of the dollars raised will fight hunger in our community. Soups On: because no one should be hungry.
