{SpaceFM} Tricycle rider, 43, sentenced to 8 weeks imprisonment A Surulere Chief Magistrates Court, Lagos, on Monday sentenced a tricycle rider, Isa Ajadi, to eight weeks imprisonment for dangerous driving and causing obstruction on a public road. The Magistrate, Mrs F.B. Lawal, sentenced Ajadi, 43, after he pleaded guilty to the charges against him. She, however, gave the convict an option of paying a fine of N40,000. Lawal ordered that the tricycle with which the convict committed the offences should be parked in the court’s premises and released on completion of the jail term or payment of the fine. The accused was said to have ridden his tricycle with registration number TTD 923 QC in a dangerous manner, causing obstruction on the highway. According to the police prosecutor, Cpl. Gbenga Salami, the offences were committed on Feb. 23, along Funsho Williams Avenue, around Ojuelegba Bridge in Surulere, Lagos. Salami had told the court that Ajadi did not obey a police signal and also drove without a certificate of insurance. He said that the offences contravened Sections 32, 36, 38 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act of Lagos State.
