Spanish Tuning aka Open G - 3 String CBG Tunings In the previous post, I discussed 3 string tuning: Dgb The full 6 string tuning can easily be broken into 3 function tunings for CBG. D(GDg)bd - DG(Dgb)d - DGD(gbd) 135 Tuning gbd In the video below, Bill is using this tuning to play lead guitar. I am playing in the Key of G also, but I tuned my CBG down and used a capo. I could of simply played in Open G: Dgbd, but I wanted the CBG to have a higher pitch like a simulation of Nashville Tuning on a 6 string guitar. In conclusion: I originally learned to play bottleneck slide on 6 string guitar. Using CBGs tuned to the full open tuning, but broken into 3 parts: GDg / Dgb / gbd greatly improved my overall knowledge and skills. New situations, although they can be frustrating at times, usually lead to new learning.
