Sparky the Wonder Dog found himself a Person and a Home! He is exactly what I envisioned - a young man who is a runner and loves to hike. A guy who is nearly through college with a challenging major, but is planning to move to Montana, where he has never been, because it sounds like a great place. The most pet he has ever had before is a goldfish, but he has always wanted a dog, has petsat dogs and all his buddies have them. Perfect. He almost has as much dog experience as I have. I told him hell be needing to research working dogs and cattle dogs in particular,because theyre not like other dogs. He described what he was looking for in a dog, which did indeed sound like an ACD. His biggest concern was that he have enough stamina for HIM, LOL. We hung up because he had to get to class, but he phoned back an hour later and asked if he could meet him immediately. He broought his best friend, who does own a cattle dog, to help him decide, and darned if he hadnt memorized the wiki page on ACDs, too. Sparky displayed both his fiercest guard dog and his sweetest affectionate sides, and it became obvious that both man and dog were smitten. Beyond that. they had both decided - this was exactly what they were each looking for. Sparky ignored both Brads and my attempts at goodbyes and Satch said that he hopped right in the car, and never even gave a backwards glance.Shades of Sophias first sleepover, at age three, where she cried furious tears when we phoned to tell her goodnight, because we had interrupted her evening. Hes only moved half a mile away, so well see him again.
