What did they do? A lot of things, but this document is a good starting point. A guideline in BRIGHT RED, BOLD, and UNDERLINED indicating to report CHILD ABUSE to the church ONLY, before calling ANYONE else, including authorities. Yep. Page 4. God dammit. There is a lot of HORRIBLE stuff in there, but not reporting child abuse is the worst. And reporting it to the church is a strategy to avoid detection, lawsuits, and media. It is to protect the church, not potential victims. It is also ILLEGAL. You must always report child abuse to the proper authorities.
