Special Recognition for Longtime Fire Captain On Monday, January 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. the Corpus Christi Fire Department will present its longest serving member with a special recognition for his 45 years of service to the City of Corpus Christi and its citizens. Captain S.A. Benavides began his career with the fire department on September 11, 1968. Through his time as a firefighter, Captain Benavides has witnessed many changes in the fire service and has worked at many emergency scenes.
