Speech Title: The Wolf of Wall Street Speech Plan: CC 10, Inspire your Audience Time: 8 to 10 minutes. By Leonardo DiCaprio Evaluation by a Toastmaster Suresh Nayak, Winners Club Toastmasters International. I must congratulate you on an excellent speech, which being your 10th speech, gets you a Golden Globe award. I am truly inspired and I am sure, so have been the audience. Let me start with the title which says it all. How would a Wolf behave in a street paved with dollars i.e., Wall Street? Yes, it would devour everyone on its way without distinction on whether black or white, poor or rich, man or a woman (or something in between), tall or short, lean or rotund. One exception would be that you just could not keep it down when it came to the Vixen and they ultimately foxed you, so did the FBI. Your voice modulation was excellent, from the screaming husband to Naomi to the drunken brawls and mumbling when high on coke and pills. Hats off to the intensity of your repeated motivational outburst to the employees, we came to know the stuff you are made of. Eye contact was great. All of the 325 pairs in the auditorium felt your blue eyes piercing them. About your body language, every part of your body spoke with you. Your vulgar one finger and two finger gestures took the cake. The drunken brawls and drugged crawls and copulation scenes were expressive. What would make this speech better? I have a few suggestions. If you cut out the 950 odd profanities and expletives (I am sure the Ah counter would tell you the exact number), you could reduce the speech from 180 to 30 minutes. If you also cut out the irrelevant crude fornication scenes, you could reduce it further to fit into the allotted time of 10 minutes. At the same time, the audience could have perhaps focused on the theme of the speech i.e., get inspired to take the shortcut to the riches. All in all it was a great speech. When choosing your future speeches, please keep in mind the suggestions given. We look forward to having more of your earlier speeches like “The Titanic”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “The Great Gatsby” and the like.
