Spending the last few days writing an artistic dissertation for an artist-friends vernissage. Lot of topics to ponder. Where will Artificial Intelligence lead us? Who ultimately has control - humans or their machines? As technology evolves, how far will it go? What about the ethics involved? Its exciting for humankind to be at this precipice, but at the same time, somewhat daunting. Hegel talks about recognition of the other as defining consciousness. Machines are already able to recognize the other and have been able to for decades. What are the ethical implications of this? As religion fades away, how do find a common mythology that ties us together? Without a common mythology, what will unite us as a human race? How do we define boundaries? How do we define morality? So many questions... Beaudrillard said he didnt believe in reality. He believed in the Simulacrum - the simulation of reality. More and more we trek into this non-reality... and the question remains: where will it lead us?
