Spent several hours today on a thread trying to convince people that Gods mercy and forgiveness is only given to the repentant, but as far as I know, I didnt even make a dent! Everyone only would except that God is love and does not require that people must repent in order to receive benefit from the atonement! According to them, God cast away the sins of all humanity two thousand years ago, and all anyone has to do to go to Heaven is just believe that! Repentance was defined by them as just agreeing with God! Thats it! They would not except any part of Scripture that required repentance for salvation, or accept any idea of it as a forsaking of sin, and completely rejected all parts of the Bible that required obedience and holiness! To them, I was speaking heresy! Utterly amazing that truth can be turned so upside down and completely twisted by those inside the Church, and defended with such zeal! For many, there is just no hope, because they have not a love of the truth, but rather hate it, and have created a god in their minds that they are comfortable with, instead of accepting God and His truth as He has reaveled to us in His Word! Their willfull blindness, will be their Hell someday, except they repent! -Dennis Mellenberger-
