Spent the afternoon alternately bawling and guffawing listening to old family reel to reels expertly converted to CD by Gabriel Harley. Theyre all there, voices I havent heard in decades: my father, the consummate master of ceremonies; my mother, his straight (wo)man; tongue-tied Gramma; gruff Grandpa; sweet Aunt Fern; cousin Susie; and baby me, the smarty pants little hambone making the most of every moment of mic time. And, sweet Jesus, the singing. Those voices in harmony as Gramma played the piano. How well I remember. Heaven.
