Spent the afternoon listening to six fellow MA students outlining their plans for film scripts. Then over to McMordie Hall to listen to four film and drama Ph.D. candidates deliver papers about their ongoing research. First chap was a bit muffled because he kept looking to one side, but the rest were pretty damn good. Our second paper was on two- and three-dimensional animation by Pixar for Toy Story and other animated films. Third paper by Damien began on three-dimensional interactive documentaries and led into research involving the prison memory archive. See: prisonsmemoryarchive Fourth paper was about one of Becketts plays being produced in Sarejevo. After this, I nipped across the road into Queens Film Theatre to watch only lovers left alive, which was a very interesting (Vampire) film that had some very nice touches. queensfilmtheatre/films/only-lovers-left-alive/ All this helps to demonstrate why its never a waste of time to go back to university for a bit of further study - at whatever age.
