Spent the last 2 hours having a discussion with my lad (13) on how he thinks he was misdiagnosed - he never has liked being not normal as he puts it. (Words, I think have been said by others in his class ). I said I would give it some thought, but in the meantime I have asked him to think about what positive things have come out it - like his love of animals, his caring attitude and his mental intelligence particularly in maths - his lack of social skills has took him to be a wizard in computer skills which in the future may lead him to edit ( not hack lol) computer games etc... He gave me a cuddle and said he enjoyed the chat, as I did too :)
