Spitting is the act of forcibly ejecting saliva or other - TopicsExpress

Spitting is the act of forcibly ejecting saliva or other substances from the mouth. It is currently considered rude and a social taboo in many parts of the world. Spitting upon another person, especially onto the face, is a universal sign of anger, hatred, disrespect or contempt. In some cultures, it is believed that spitting in public is bad luck, because one may unknowingly spit on invisible spirits who take this as an act of great disrespect and will then curse the Spitter. In every action there is equal and opposite reaction, spitting on someone you dont know his spiritual background might cause a reversal action, even God frowns at such an act. In the Old Testament spitting in the face was a gesture of contempt, a deliberate insult. Job, during his trial, was such an object of disgrace that people spat upon him in disgust (Job 30:10). He not only lost his children, his wealth, and his health--he lost his honor, too, and the people expressed it by spitting on the poor fellow as they walked by.
