Spoke today to a local Kiwanis group. They were a lot of fun and made me laugh. (And they sing!) Once again, I find myself amazed at the willingness of others to listen and help. I dont mean to sound like a Pollyana here. I KNOW that government agencies arent easy to work with. I KNOW that services can be few and far between. But people - actual people not representing some agency - can be amazing in their willingness to help when asked. No, it wont affect my insurance, his IEP, or right now issues. But it can impact our quality of life. Having challenger leagues, Sensitive Santa events, GPS tracking, special needs swimming lessons, accessible playgrounds and more can make the hard stuff better. Giving access to the world is a thing of inestimable value and one that communities - not states - do better than anyone else. I really am excited about the possibilities. :)
