Sports Report for Friday, 1-9-2015 wlbg/2015/01/09/sports-report-for-friday-1-9-2015/?30948 PC Notes… Both PC basketball teams were at home yesterday in a doubleheader of basketball… The PC women’s team lost to Radford by a score of 43-35 (click here for more details)… The men’s team lost a heartbreaker as Winthrop took a 57-56 win by scoring the last 4 points of the game (click here for more details)… The PC women’s team will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to Coastal Carolina for a 7:00 pm contest and the men will also be in action as they travel to Radford. Local Sports Results LDHS… The Laurens Raider varsity teams were in action last night as they made the short tip up I-385 to take on the Hillcrest Rams. G: Hillcrest 65 – Laurens 55… In the first game at Hillcrest last night the Lady Raiders jumped out to an 18-12 lead at the end of the first quarter largely due to Chyna Davis’ 11 point in the opening 8 minutes of play… However Hillcrest came back to take a 65-55 win as they outscored the Raiders 43-21 over the next 2 quarters… Davis finished the night with 16 points to lead the Lady Raiders… Also scoring in double-digits for Laurens were Kela Daniels with 15 points and Jessica Johnson with 13… Laura Jackson scored 6 and Ke’Ny-Ja Spurgeon with 2 points… The Lady Raiders record now stands at 3-8 / 0-3… B: Hillcrest 61 – Laurens 53… The news was not any better for Laurens fans as Hillcrest took a 61-53 win over the Raiders in boys’ action… Just like the Lady Raiders the boys had a lead at the end of the first quarter (22-12) but found themselves down 34-32 at the half… The Raiders fought back and took a 48-46 lead going into the final 8 minutes of play… Kezario Whitmore had a 3-pointer with about 7 minutes left in the game to Laurens up 51-46… However after that the Riders shooting went as cold as the night air scoring only 2 more points for the remainder of the game… Davon Boyce led the Raiders with 24 points… The team is now 9-4 on the season and 1-2 in region play Laurens JV… The Laurens JV teams were also in action as they hosted Hillcrest. G: Laurens 32 – Hillcrest 25…. Scoring for Laurens: Malaysia Todd 13, Porsha Long 9, Sparkle Mms 6 and Slick Suber 4. B: Hillcrest 47 – Laurens 36… Braylin McBeth had 8 points and DQ Floyd 7. CHS… The Red Devil JV basketball teams hosted Union County G: Clinton 24 – Union County 16…. Sorry no scoring details B: Clinton 50 – Union County 28… The CHS JV boys’ basketball team defeated Union 50-28 last night… CHS led 13-7 after 1 quarter, 23-15 at the half, and 33-21 after 3 quarters… Eleven different players scored for CHS…. Zay Hurley led CHS with 14 points, Tashymen Boyd had 10 points, Dante Reeder had 6 points, Shimeek Gaskins had 4 points, Josh Williams had 3 points, Zay Bennett had 3 points, Koko Richey had 2 points, King Price had 2 points, Robert Powell had 2 points, Dawson Green had 2 points, Ty Priestly had 2 points…. CHS JV boys record is now 7-1 overall and 1-0 in region play… Coach Eddie Romine stated afterwards “We played very unselfish on offense… We played good but not great defense… We’ve got to learn to play more intense defense… Overall, it was a great win. I’m proud of the guys!” Middle School Belton Warriors @ Gray Court-Owings Tigers G: B 26 – GCO 11… In girls’ action, The Lady Warriors of Belton took a 26-11 won over the Lady Tigers of GCO…. Turnovers hurt GCO as they trailed 16-5 at the half and just could not make up the deficit in the second half… Paula Abrams led the scoring for GCO with 7 pints… Also scoring for the Tigers were Deja Brown and Sasha Shaw with 2 points each. B: B 41 – GCO 29… The Belton Warriors completed their sweep of GCO by taking a 41-29 win… Belton did most of third damage in the first half as they led 29-12 at the break… Belton’s Joseph LeCroy had all 18 of his points in the first half including 4 three-point shots… Gray Court fought back in the second half but the just could not get over the hump… Quintavis Larry was the only Tiger scoring in double-digits with 14 points…. Also putting up points for GCO were Jamaurice Lee with 6, Dante’ Garrett 4, Nigel Smith 3 and Zavon Barksdale 2 Sanders Yellow Jackets @ Hickory Tavern Panthers G: SMS 30 – HT 17… In the first game at HT, the SMS girls took a 30-17 win… T’kaylah Woodruff led the Lady Yellow Jackets with 15 points… Sorry no scoring details from HT. B: SMS 32 – GCO 15… In the second game at HT, the Sanders boys completed the sweep of HT by taking a 32-15 win… sanders Jordan Woodruff led all scorers with 9 points Laurens Middle School Tigers @ Bell Street Middle School Red Wildcats G: LMS 25 – BSR 11… The Lady Tigers of LMS took a 25-11 win over the Lady Wildcats of BSR… Jada Young led the victors with 10 points B: BSR 39 – LMS 22…. In the boys contest, BSR turned the tables and took a 39-22 w to take on the Hillcrest rams.in over the LMS Tigers… BSR’s JD Payne led all scorers with 22 points… Sam Till er had 6 points, Titus Hood 4, Skyland Holsenback 3 and both Marco Cunningham & Konnor Richardson had 2 each… Deonte Smith and Sean Tice paced LMS with 4 points each. Bell Street White Wildcats @ Honea Path G: HP 33 – BSW 14… In girls’ action, HP took a 33-14 win over BSW… Sorry no scoring details B: Sorry but score not reported to me.
