Spring is upon us! Time to get out of the house and off of that boring treadmill. I am an assistant coordinator with The Louisville Hiking Meetup and every Saturday morning at 11am I host a brisk 4 mile hike in Morgan Conservation Park just outside La Grange. This is absolutely the best public hiking trail youre going to find in Oldham County and it is absolutely gorgeous. I have been hiking at Morgan since last June and the route I have methodically created for this hike has been very well received by those who have come out so far. It goes right through a huge blackberry patch. When the berries are ripe in late spring/early summer there are free snacks during the hike! :) The scenery is beautiful and youll get a great 1:20 to 1:30 hour workout. Best part is, it FREE! It is open to anyone who shows up, I only ask that you go to the site linked below or download the Meetup app, sign up and rsvp so I can keep you up to date in the event of a time change or cancellation. I also need to ask that before coming out, you use proper judgement in your abilities to complete this hike since there will be 3 strenous hills that will really raise your heart rate. We hike as friends, meaning we are all responsible for ourselves. I am not a licensed trainer, nor am I able to offer any medical assistance on the trail. My pace is typically 3.0 mph but I always allow folks to go at their own pace and I never leave anyone behind. There is a designated early exit to the parking lot at the 1.5 mile marker for those who cannot continue. Also I within the next week or two I will be starting up my 5 mile hike/walk at the Wendell Moore Park Trails. These will take place on Tuesday & Thursday evenings. This is considerably less strenous than Morgan. The start time will depend on how much daylight is available to complete the 5 miles, which is typically around 5:30 or 6pm. I will announce this here when it starts up.
