Springfield Police Warn of Man Posing as Electric Co. Worker SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Police are warning of a person who may be going door-to-door, purporting to be from the electric company and getting personal information. Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney says that around 5 p.m. Tuesday, a 62-year-old woman reported that an unknown man knocked on the door of her Sanderson Street home and stated he was from the electric company. The man then reportedly asked the woman about her Social Security number and some other questions. “The female started to fear for her life and answered his questions,” Delaney explains, adding that once the man left, the woman called the electric company and found that the company would never send someone to a customer’s home and ask questions. Detectives continue to investigate the incident. If anyone witnesses any similar behavior or is a victim of this same crime, you are asked to call the Springfield Police Detective Bureau at (413) 787-6355.
