Sreya-ism...after quite a bit of a break...Sunday somethings that have been brewing over 7 years of observation and amusement! “There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others.” ― Mandy Hale, The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass This is what I believed in and still do...but perhaps in a world of harsh realities, patriarchal shackles and hackneyed age old belief systems things work differently! A few days back a casual general change in my status woke me up to a few realities ( and broke a bit of my naive self yet again!) Well am not talking about the oh wow...eyes wide open feel at the 450 likes innumerable congratulatory messages, inbox notes, some 100 whatsapp and sms and emails too! I feel blessed with the love and warmth and genuine affection of so many... Its the sudden change in behaviour of some who you feel were genuine friends (irrespective of gender) irrespective of singledom..but a handful too just leave me so amused and disgusted. Though a close friend tells me I should only feel sad for connects such... Interestingly if a single woman is friendly, polite, affectionate naturally, its misconstrued as an available label by men. The moment she lets go herself and is attached to another...she also becomes safe for women. Somehow she can now be called for couple dos even if the partner is not by her side! The fact that she is now alone no more makes her acceptable into the inner circle! Attached...like huh?! ( ok this requires a completely different series of Sreya-ism) Well, lets just say...I am what I am and will continue to be...construe it whichever way peeps!! But if I see a change in behaviour because I chose my path well lets say we gotta part ways! Worth is defined by who you are or who you are with?
